MANILA, Philippines -- Undefeated boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. took home this year's Excellence in Sports Performance of the Year (ESPY) Award for Best Fighter, edging out Fighter of the Decade Manny Pacquiao and mixed martial arts (MMA) superstar Georges St. Pierre.

This is the 3rd time Mayweather won the award.

Fight fans are currently waiting for Mayweather, who is fresh from a victory versus potential Hall of Famer “Sugar” Shane Mosley, to sign a fight contract with Pacquiao for the biggest fight to date in recent years.

Meanwhile, the New Orleans Saints and its quarterback Drew Brees were the big winners at the ESPY awards.

Brees received 4 trophies, including Male Athlete of the Year, Best Championship Performance and Best NFL (National Football League) Player. He also shared the team award with his super bowl champion colleagues.

Brees was chosen male athlete over National Basketball Association (NBA) stars Kobe Bryant and Lebron James.

Floyd Mayweather to Decide

Recently the megafight Pacquiao-Mayweather started last year. The negotiation was disputed because of a controversial drug-testing protocol insisted by Maywether's camp which Pacquiao is not willing to take blood tests less that 14 days before the fight.

Bob Arum recently told Yahoo! Sports that the talks to get the megafight done are now making progress, and that if there are any issues remaining to be fixed on Maywether's Part.

“I think the only question is whether Mayweather is prepared to fight now,” Arum said. “He may say he’s had his fight for the year and that’s it and that we’ll address it again next year. He might say that. I don’t know. I don’t know. But that’s what I’m hypothesizing,” he told Yahoo! Sports’ Kevin Iole.

But recently, the Filipino southpaw, now congressman of Sarangani province after taking his oath of office last Monday, said he is now willing to subject himself to blood tests up to 14 days before fight time.

Even Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach said his ward is now willing to give in to Mayweather’s demands.

“At this point I feel that Manny is going to agree to everything,” Roach told Morgan Campbell of the Toronto Star in its June 28 issue.

“That’s our bluff. We’re going to call his bluff. We’ll see…I can’t speak for Manny, I can’t speak for Arum but I feel the fight will happen because Manny is going to call his bluff and say “’let’s do it,'” the multi-awarded trainer added.

Arum, for his part, echoed Roach’s statements.

“That’s all been resolved,” Arum said, referring to the issue of blood testing. “It may be that Floyd wants to fight in May, in which case (Pacquiao will) fight (another opponent) in November and fight him in May. I am not going to talk about the specifics of the negotiations. You have my statement that there are no real issues that I can see, except whether he wants to fight now or later or not at all,” Arum told Iole.

With this, Arum stated that the ball is now in Mayweather’s court to reach a deal finalizing the fight, which expected to be the richest in boxing history.

“The question is whether Mayweather is willing to go into the ring this year. It’s up to him. His people would love him to do it. He may not want to do it. If Mayweather wants to fight in November, I believe the fight will be made. To me it seems — it seems, and say that, because I’m not Mayweather — that the only issue is whether he wants to fight in November,” he said.

In the event everything still fails, Arum said Pacquiao could end up facing Mexican Antonio Margarito or even take a rematch with Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto, who recently won the WBO junior middleweight title over Yuri Foreman last month.

But for Arum, the fight to be made is still Pacquiao-Mayweather.

“As far as I’m concerned, we have two guys (Margarito and Cotto) in the wings who could make attractive fights for Manny, though they are certainly not as attractive as a Mayweather fight,” he said.

While Arum has been very vocal of the ongoing negotiations, his counterpart, Golden Boy Promotions chief Richard Schaefer, remains mum on the issue.

“My reaction is no comment,” Schaefer, who represents Mayweather, said when reached by Iole for comment.

“I really can’t say anything. I won’t comment in any way, shape or form. You know this and anybody who has called me knows this: The only two words I’m going to say when I’m asked about this are ‘No comment.’ That’s my comment. No comment,” he added.

The fight this coming weekend will mark a record for the Filipino-American beauty Ana Julaton if she manage to take over Lisa Brown for a 3rd title in the super bantamweight division. The fight will take place in Ontario, Canada which is the home town of the Canadian Lisa Brown.

The Filipino-American beauty will attempt to win the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) title when she clashes with Brown in a 10-rounder at the Casino Rama.

MANILA, Philippines – Even if Ghana’s Joshua Clottey is bigger than 7-division world champion Manny Pacquiao, the Filipino’s conditioning coach thinks the Ghanaian will not have enough strength to go the distance in his March 13 bout.

“I don't think Clottey will last 12 rounds. I think Clottey might just stop because he will get hit too much. I think Clottey will get tired of getting hit,” Alex Ariza told Brad Cooney of 8countnews.com.

“If Manny moves the way he's been moving in sparring, I just don't see Clottey being able to take the beating that he is going to get.”

Ariza, however, mentioned that he is concerned about the beating that Pacquiao will get from Clottey at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

He shared that he and Pacquiao focused “a little more” on strength training.

“Clottey is strong so that's my biggest concern… The physical punishment Manny might take is my biggest concern. Clottey is so much bigger, but we will have Manny ready for whatever comes his way,” stated Ariza.

Pacquiao’s conditioning coach went on to divulge on the status of their training camp in Los Angeles, California.

“I think we are right on schedule, maybe even a little ahead of it. He looks great, the weight is great, the conditioning is great.”

The Filipino boxing superstar trains at the Wild Card Gym which is owned by his coach, Freddie Roach.

Ariza even commented on Pacquiao’s LA training: “I am not a big fan of LA training because of all of the people here. I thought we had a good camp in the Philippines last fight. Manny trained well over there, but he looks good over here too.”

Pacquiao will defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title against Clottey, a former International Boxing Federation (IBF) welterweight champion. Their match headlines the pay-per-view event entitled “The Event.”

A well rounded and humble fighter from Ghana, Joshua Clottey, speaks about the upcoming match against the seven-division champion, Manny Pacquiao. An interview conducted by the FanHouse in his training facility at Fort Lauderdale's Contender Gym in Florida.

"I went to Ghana to try get a visa for my trainer, and it didn't work out for Godwin Kotey. I think that was three weeks ago, and I've moved on. I'm training with Lenny DeJesus, we're training hard, and we're very happy," said Clottey.

"I can't tell you my strategy. I can't and will not tell you what I'm going to do to Manny Pacquiao," said Clottey. "But I'm coming to fight -- I will tell you that. This, I do know: Manny Pacquiao is not that different from anyone else that I've fought."

"Manny Pacquiao is a human being, like everyone else. He's just a really good fighter who is out there now who is No. 1 now," said Clottey. "I don't know how he's coming to fight me, but I can tell you that I'm a different fighter altogether than anyone else that he's faced. I'm a really difficult fighter, you see."

Clottey enjoys the fact that, unlike Cotto and De La Hoya, he will be allowed to fight at the 147-pound weight limit rather than being contracted by Pacquiao to fight at catch weights of 145 pounds like Cotto and De La Hoya.

"It is good for me to be at 147. I'm a very big welterweight, so it's not really easy to make 147. I'm going to be big," said Clottey, beginning to warm up. "But I'm going in there and taking it like, 'I'm just going to go in there and do my thing and make people happy.'"

But will those punches be appreciated against a Manny Pacquiao, whose activity level alone could earn a momentum and favor with the crowd and the judges -- perceived or otherwise?

"Pacquiao is coming from a smaller weight to welterweight, and he's going to have an advantage in speed already because he's a smaller guy. I can't throw a lot of punches like Pacquiao will do. But I will connect enough to make him slow down and wear down, and bring his speed down," said Clottey.

"I will also rely on my pressure. But I don't know what Pacquiao is coming to do, so I have to use my head. I don't know if he's planning to move around. But I'm not going to make him chase me. I will be right there," said Clottey. "I want to make this fight so exciting that the fans will have something to talk about. I don't run. I'll keep coming. I'll be there."

Clottey's three losses were to former world champions Carlos Baldomir, Antonio Margarito and Cotto. Clottey led against Baldomir when he was disqualified for head-butting, and was also in front against Margarito before having to fight the final eight rounds with injuries to both hands.

"I've never left the ring feeling like I lost. I feel like I'm undefeated. If I win this fight against Manny Pacquiao, I will never feel like I beat the best fighter in the world," said Clottey.

"I will feel like I had a fight with Manny Pacquiao, the best fighter out there, and I won," said Clottey. "So even if I beat Pacquaio, and people talk about it like it's a big upset, I'll say, 'It's not an upset, but a win.'"

MANILA, Philippines – “Sugar” Shane Mosley and Floyd Mayweather Jr. have reportedly agreed to terms to fight for the World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight title, according to a report by ESPN.com.

"Shane has signed. I sat with him [Friday] and we went through every provision of the contract and he signed," Mosley's attorney Judd Burstein told ESPN.com. "He is excited to move forward with the bout."

The fight is set on May 1 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Mayweather, who has yet to sign the contract, has reportedly expressed his intent to fight Mosley, according to Ellerbe.

"All of the deal points have been agreed to," Ellerbe said. "We still have to put pen to paper, but everything is agreed to.”

Mosley reportedly agreed to undergo random blood and urine testing, as has Mayweather.

The Mosley-Mayweather fight came into fore after talks for a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight collapsed due to Floyd’s drug test demands.

Mosley was supposed to face Haiti’s Andre Berto in a title-unification match, but Berto was forced to pull out after some of his family members were killed in the earthquake in Haiti.

MANILA, Philippines - They’re selling like hotcakes and Manny Pacquiao hasn’t placed his orders yet.

Tickets to the March 13 fight between the Filipino pound-for-pound champion and challenger Josh Clottey are out, and with still 50 days left before the big day, promoters might be forced to have a few thousands more printed.

According to ESPN.com, more than 20,000 tickets were sold in the first three hours of sales Saturday. Because of the size of the venue, tickets prices were slashed more than half of what they used to be for Pacquiao fights.

The Dallas Cowboys Stadium, a $1.3 billion wonder, can seat more than 100,000 fans for a football game. But for this fight, the men behind the fight have decided to block off the outer sections and limit the capacity to around 40,000.

Still, that’s more than twice as big as when Pacquiao fights in Las Vegas, whether it’s the MGM Grand or the Mandalay Bay, where ringside tickets are given a face value of $1,500. In Dallas, the choice seats will go for just $700.

The cheapest tickets for this WBO welterweight clash will go for $50, just the equivalent of dinner and good bottle of wine in a nice restaurant. In previous Pacquiao fights, fifty bucks can’t even get you past the entrance of the fight venue.

“Ross Greenburg (president of HBO Sports) and I are very gratified that the public has responded like they have, and we are happy for our partner (Cowboys owner) Jerry Jones,” Top Rank chief Bob Arum told Dan Rafael in New York Saturday.

Arum was at the Madison Square Garden for his own boxing card. He added that if the demand continues, then the stadium’s capacity can be increased. Pacquiao fights over the last two to three years were always sold out.

“It’s going to be quite a night. And Jerry isn’t just a one-event guy. If he sees this as a success you can be sure he’ll do more boxing in that great stadium,” added Arum.

By the time Pacquiao places his orders, promoters might just consider that because the 31-year-old punching machine, winner of his last 11 fights, is also known for his legendary generosity when it comes to giving away tickets.

For the Miguel Cotto fight last November, insiders said he spent more than $300,000 buying more than 800 tickets for family and friends. That’s more than two percent of his guaranteed purse. But he loves what he’s doing.

“It’s my way of thanking these people who continue to support me,” he’d often say.

David Haye Pulls Out

Heavyweight contender David Haye has spoken for the first time since the news broke a week ago of his back injury that forced him to withdraw from a June 20th clash with IBF/WBO champion Wladimir Klitschko. Haye says that he will be ready and fully recovered from his injury to take a fight with WBC champion Vitali Klitschko in July, if Vitali is able to get permission for a voluntary defense from the WBC. Haye says he suffered the back injury while he was shadow boxing last Tuesday.

"I want to fight the biggest and the best and whoever is the biggest, the best and available I will fight," said Haye to Sportinglife. "It is all about me becoming heavyweight champion of the world as soon as possible. I know a fight between me and anybody is massive. I am more than happy to fight them (the Klitschko brothers). They know that. I agreed to fight Vitali first and it swapped over to Wladimir. If he would like to give me a voluntary then I would like to let him know I am ready from July."

Haye would also like to reschedule his fight with Wladimir. He hopes that Wlad is able to get past Ruslan Chagaev next Saturday, and then face him down the road.
